NBA Basketball Preview, The Sports Network, Miami Heat Host Milwaukee Bucks in South Beach
(Sports Network) - The disappointing Miami Heat host the slumping Milwaukee Bucks tonight at AmericanAirlines Arena.
This is the first meeting of the season between the clubs. The Heat were 2-1 against Milwaukee last season and have won five of the last six contests in the series.
The Bucks have lost six straight after winning their last two at Miami.
The Heat enter tonight's contest on a four-game losing streak. On Saturday, Andray Blatche scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds to help the Washington Wizards earn a 96-74 win over the struggling Heat at the Verizon Center.
Ricky Davis scored 22 points in the loss for the Heat, who have dropped six of seven and 13 of their last 17 games overall.
Luke Jackson ended with 14 points off the bench, while Dwyane Wade netted 12 and committed seven turnovers for Miami, which played without All-Star Shaquille O'Neal. O'Neal sat out with left hip bursitis.
O'Neal, who has missed two straight games, is doubtful for tonight's contest. He is averaging 14.0 points and 7.8 rebounds in 29 outings this season. Point guard Jason Williams (left knee inflammation) and forward Dorell Wright (sprained left ankle) are also doubtful tonight for the Heat.Miami is 4-10 at home this season. After tonight's game, the Heat will embark on a five-game road trip at Dallas, Memphis, Minnesota, Milwaukee and New Orleans.
The Bucks conclude a two-game road trip against the Heat. On Monday, Richard Hamilton led five Pistons in double figures with 22 points as Detroit crushed Milwaukee, 114-69, at The Palace of Auburn Hills.Michael Redd led the Bucks with 18 points, while rookie Yi Jianlian contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for Milwaukee, which has dropped four in a row and six of its last seven games overall.Milwaukee shot just 36 percent (26-for-72) from the floor, including a 2- for-12 from three-point range.
The Bucks also committed 21 turnovers and shot just 57.7 percent (15-for-26) from the foul line in the loss to Detroit.On the injury front for Milwaukee, guard Maurice Williams (left Achilles tendinitis) is questionable. Williams did not play against Detroit. He is averaging 15.9 points and a team-best 7.1 assists per game this season.The Bucks are 2-15 on the road this season.
They return home to host the Washington Wizards on Friday at the Bradley Center.
