You have got a great week of football ahead, with the NFL playoffs kicking off this weekend and the BCS Championship matchup following up on Monday night. Let’s have a look at a few of the big games.

AFC Wild-Card, January 5th
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS AT PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Jacksonville Jaguars Pick (-130) Over 38.5, Pittsburgh Steelers Pick (+110) Under 38.5
One of the hottest teams in the league, Jacksonville, faces a team who appears to be on a bit of a downward slide, the Steelers.
The Jaguars head back to Pittsburgh for the second time in the last four weeks. Their first visit to Heinz Field in Week #15 could be called a coming out party of sorts for the Jags, who pretty much dominated in a 29-22 win. Previously this AFC South team had been flying under the radar somewhat. Observers were very impressed with the way they won that game, playing smash mouth football on both sides of the ball in cold weather. They were simply a much better team on that day.
It’s going to be tough to beat the Steelers twice in a row at home, but this Jaguar team has confidence and Pittsburgh is dealing with some real issues, most notably the loss of running back Willie Parker. Without a ground game, facing a smothering run-defense, it is going to be tough for the Steeler offense to sustain drives. QB Roethlisberger is going to have one of his best days as a pro…the question is, can he?

NFC Wild-Card, January 6th
NEW YORK GIANTS AT TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
New York Giants +2.5 (+105) Over 39.5, Tampa Bay Buccaneers -2.5 (-125) Under 39.5
Who do you want to put your money on – Eli Manning and a Giant team that played with some spark the last few weeks, or Jeff Garcia and a Buc team that has been coasting the last few weeks?
The Giants inconsistency will drive bettors nuts, but the Buccaneers’ offense can go through frustrating periods of non-production. Both teams rely on strong defenses and running games. So a lot is going to depend on the QB position. Whoever can limit mistakes and make a few key plays should be victorious. The Giants should be able to get enough of a pass rush to cause problems for the ball-control offense Tampa runs, which is a big edge.
The Bucs are rested, as they had their playoff spot wrapped up early and gave many starters time on the bench. The same can’t be said for the Giants, who played hard right to the final gun of the regular season, and in doing so suffered a few key injuries. This could haunt them here.
This should be a close game, with both defenses having good days. The Bucs are 2.5-point favorites.

BCS Championship, January 7th
OHIO STATE VS. LSU
Ohio State +4 Over 48.5, LSU -4 Under 48.5
Forget the controversy about how these teams ended up in the big game, this should be one entertaining matchup between the power of the Big 10, Ohio State and the SEC’s best program, LSU. Will the Big 10 be embarrassed again by the SEC, like last year when Florida rolled all over them?
Ohio State appears to be a better team than the one last year, or at least a more complete team, despite not having Troy Smith and Ted Ginn. LSU has a couple of losses on their record this year, and rarely dominated opponents. In fact, they only covered the spread twice in their last 10 starts of the year. Ohio State was better to their backers this season, cashing in at a 7-4 clip.
The Buckeyes are the dogs in this one, getting four points. It is worth noting that the last time they were an underdog in a National Championship game (+12 to Miami in 2002), they won that game straight up. Bet on this game now!
