NHL Hockey Preview, The Sports Network, Edmonton Oilers Heads to St. Louis Aiming to Halt Skid Against the St. Louis Blues

(Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers will try to halt their longest losing streak of the season when they visit the St. Louis Blues for this evening's test at the Scottrade Center.
The Oilers have dropped six straight games and are in danger of losing seven in a row for the first time since they set a franchise-record with a 12-game skid from February 25-March 21 of last season.
Edmonton's latest setback came Monday night in Columbus as Rick Nash registered his second career hat trick to help the Blue Jackets defeat the Oilers, 4-2, at Nationwide Arena.
Ethan Moreau posted a goal and an assist and Steve Staios also tallied for Edmonton.
Dwayne Roloson allowed three goals on 32 shots.
The Oilers are playing the third test of a four-game road trip tonight and are just 8-9-3 as the visiting club this year.
The Blues, meanwhile, are coming off a big win, as they defeated the powerful Red Wings in Detroit on Monday.
Manny Legace stopped all 31 shots he faced to help St. Louis beat the Red Wings, 2-0, at Joe Louis Arena.
Erik Johnson and Lee Stempniak scored for St. Louis, which also snapped a four-game losing streak.
The Blues also avenged a 5-0 loss to Detroit just five days prior, in St. Louis.
Legace, who played six seasons with the Red Wings, recorded his second shutout of the season and the 20th of his career.
Additionally, the Blues shut out the Red Wings in Detroit for the first time since January 11, 1993.
Tonight marks the opener of a four-game homestand for the Blues, who are 11-7-2 in the Gateway City this season.
St. Louis will also welcome Carolina, Columbus and Dallas during the residency.
The Oilers and Blues have split two meetings this year and both clubs notched victories at the opposition's building.
The Blues have taken seven of the last nine encounters between the clubs and the Oilers have just two wins in their previous 16 stops in St. Louis.
