NHL Hockey Preview, The Sports Network, Minnesota Wild Cap Homestand Against Dallas Stars
(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Wild will conclude a three-game homestand tonight when they welcome the Dallas Stars to the Xcel Energy Center.
Minnesota has split the first two games of its current homestand and are 13-7-0 as the host this year.
The seven regulation losses already matches the team's total from last year at home, as the Wild went 29-7-5 at Xcel Energy Center in 2006-07.
Following tonight's game, Minnesota will hit the road for four straight.
The Wild have lost three of their last five games overall, and had a two-game winning streak halted on Monday by San Jose, which posted a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.
The Wild trailed 2-0 heading into the third period before getting goals by Dominic Moore and Mark Parrish, with Parrish's tally evening the game with 4:38 to go.
However, just 10 seconds later, Jonathan Cheechoo of the Sharks beat Niklas Backstrom with a backhander for the game-winning goal. Backstrom finished with 25 saves.
Dallas comes into the contest after being involved in a clash of the titans on Wednesday.
The Pacific Division leader played in Detroit, which leads the entire NHL in points, and was handed a 4-1 setback.
Loui Eriksson tallied the lone goal for the Stars, who have lost two in a row.
Marty Turco made 22 saves in a losing effort.
Dallas hasn't lost three in a row since November 8-14.
The Stars played without Sergei Zubov last night, as he sat out with an upper body injury.
Jussi Jokinen is also out due to a left leg injury.Despite the loss, the Stars remained on top of the Pacific standings, one point ahead of San Jose.
Dallas has won five of its last seven on the road and is 11-8-2 as the visitor overall.
The club returns home to battle Detroit on Saturday and Minnesota again on Monday.
Dallas posted eight goals in a victory over Minnesota on December 26 and has won seven of the eight and 10 of the last 13 in the series.
However, the Wild have won three of the last five as the host against the Stars.
The Stars, of course spent 26 seasons playing in Minnesota as the North Stars until their move to Dallas in 1993.
