NHL Hockey Preview, The Sports Network, San Jose Sharks host Columbus Blue Jackets hoping to end home woes

(Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks will try to bring their five-game home losing streak to a close tonight, when they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to the HP Pavilion.
The Sharks woes at home are surprising, given how successful the club has been on the road.
San Jose is 0-3-2 in its past five at home, and Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to Calgary halted a four-game overall winning streak. Each of those wins came on the road, where the team is 16-3-2 and has won a franchise- best 10 in a row. However, the Sharks are just 6-9-4 as the host.
Torrey Mitchell and Craig Rivet scored against the Flames for San Jose, which has earned at least a point in nine of its last 12 games overall (7-3-2) and is tied with Dallas for first place in the Pacific Division.
Evgeni Nabokov allowed three goals on 20 shots for the Sharks.
Columbus was sparked by the return of Michael Peca on Thursday, as he was activated from injured reserve before the game and went on to net two goals in a 4-3 victory over the Kings, including the game-winning goal late in the third period.Peca had missed the last five games due to a concussion.
The Blue Jackets did place David Vyborny on IR as well due to a groin injury.Sergei Fedorov and Joakim Lindstrom each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who have won three of four. Jan Hejda and Jared Boll each recorded two assists and Fredrik Norrena stopped 30 shots in the victory.
Columbus has split the first two games of a four-game road trip, with Thursday's win snapping a three-game losing streak as the visitor. The Blue Jackets, who will wrap the trek on Tuesday in St. Louis, are 6-10-2 on the road this year.
Columbus recorded a 2-1 home win back on October 27 against San Jose, but the Sharks have still won four of the last seven and seven of the last 11 in the series.
San Jose also owns victory in five straight home meetings with the Blue Jackets.
Columbus is 1-11 all-time at San Jose.
