(Sports Network) - Allen Iverson plays against his former team this evening, as the Denver Nuggets welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to the Pepsi Center.
This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. Philadelphia is scheduled to host the Nuggets on March 19th at the Wachovia Center.
Iverson will be playing his former team for the second time since being traded on December 19, 2006 by the Sixers to Denver in a blockbuster deal. On January 2, 2007, Philadelphia defeated the Nuggets, 108-97, in Iverson's first game against the 76ers. The Georgetown product scored 30 points and dished out nine assists in the loss.
The teams have split the last six meetings overall. Philadelphia has won two in a row at Denver.
Denver enters tonight's contest on a two-game winning streak. Iverson scored 33 points and Carmelo Anthony poured in 26 as the Nuggets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 118-107, on Friday at the Target Center.
Anthony Carter finished with 16 points and 11 assists for Denver, which has won five of its last six games overall. Marcus Camby had eight points, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots, while Linas Kleiza scored 17 off the bench.
The Nuggets are 13-5 at home this season. They will visit Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on Monday at US Airways Center.
Philadelphia wraps up a six-game road trip against Denver. The Sixers have lost two in a row and are 2-3 on the swing.
On Friday, Andrew Bynum had 17 points and 16 rebounds, and the Lakers bench took over in the second half as Los Angeles cruised to a 124-93 stomping of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Louis Williams scored 17 points off the bench for the Sixers, who have dropped three of four after winning three in a row. Rookie Thaddeus Young scored 16 points for Philadelphia, and Andre Iguodala ended with 15 points in the loss.
Philadelphia is 7-10 on the road this season. The Sixers return home to host Michael Redd and the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday at the Wachovia Center.
